The role of this site is to promote the creation, exchange and viewing of multimedia (radio and television) using IP multicast. (The term IP multicast is used to differentiate it from DTV multicast, the transmission of more than one program in a DTV stream.) In particular, this includes the ability of customers of any particular DSL or cable modem company to view IP multicast multimedia that originate on any other network, and the ability of customers of any particular DSL or cable modem company to create multimedia and to distribute it using IP multicast to customers on any network.
The writer wishes to promote the support of IP multicast by Internet Service Providers, DSL companies and cable modem companies, and the exchange of IP multicast multimedia between company networks (multicast peering). The writer wishes to promote symmetrical bandwidth - where the upstream bandwidth capacity is similar to the downstream bandwidth capacity.
